I am an author, certified childbirth educator, labor support doula and postpartum doula who has been working with expecting and new parents in New York City for over ten years.
My teaching approach is to offer clear, practical information about childbirth to help ease any confusion and engender confidence about how the body works and the many ways to cope with labor. I have no agenda about choices you might make (epidural, no epidural, etc.) but I do have lots of useful information to help you make them.
A private birth and/or baby care (including breastfeeding and/or formula feeding) class involves one or two sessions in your home: I cover how labor works, signs of labor, when to call the doctor or go into the hospital, timing contractions, medications, c-sections and hospital procedures and the very wide range of coping strategies for labor. My training incorporates many methods. For partners, I offer specific support strategies. As for new parent support— I work with adoptive parents, single mothers— however the baby comes into the world, my passion is to support the parents and baby in getting off to a gentle and confident start. This same approach carries over into my work as a labor support doula where my deep knowledge of how birth works is paired with a compassion for new parents and heaps of experience in New York City hospitals.
One private in-home birth or baby class: $350
Home with Baby— Home visit (or visits) to help with soothing, sleep set-up, dressing, feeding and postpartum care.
Labor Support Doula — Compete, continuous labor support from early labor through the birth including 24/7 pre-labor text and call support, one or two prenatal visits and one postpartum visit in hospital or at home. Call or email to make a no-obligation prenatal doula interview appointment and to ask for rates.

Ceridwen was indispensable throughout the birth process: before, during, and after labor. It’s clear that she is a doula because she loves babies and genuinely cares about her clients. Ceridwen’s ability to connect with both me and my husband and gauge what we wanted out of the birth of our daughter was incredible. From the first time we met with her in our home she was able to ask the right questions to gain an in-depth understanding of exactly how we wanted the birth to unfold and what we wanted to avoid and she did everything possible to make sure we had the birth we wanted. She also was an invaluable resource before birth, able to answer all of the questions we had about what to expect (both in person and by text or phone 24/7). I opted for a natural birth with no epidural or other pain medications, but at a hospital (Weill Cornell/NYP) just in case something went wrong. There were several times when the pain almost caused me to veer from my birth plan, but with Ceridwen’s encouragement, guidance, and detailed knowledge about exactly what I was going through, I was able to persevere and stick to the plan. Once home, Ceridwen visited us again to provide tips on nursing, soothing and the inevitable questions about how to care for our new baby. With Ceridwen’s help, the final weeks of our pregnancy and delivery were exactly what we wanted them to be. - Lauren & Rick
Ceridwen was my doula for the birth of our son. He was delivered 3 weeks early, via a scheduled C-section. The delivery was a stressful one. We were obviously worried about our son's health, as well as a very medical and intimidating surgery and recovery, in a hectic big city hospital. The moment Ceridwen walked into the recovery room, she filled it with calm and comfort. She transformed the experience into something as joyful, celebratory and intimate as the birth of a new child should be. She was able to comfort me - not just with her energy, but with her experience with protocols - that our son was 100% fine, and made sure he was in my arms as soon as possible, and guided us through some important first-hour decision making as we moved from surgery to nursery. She had an professional rapport with the doctors and nurses in the hospital, consulting with them as a respected colleague, and was able to communicate and ensure our wishes were implemented. She is extraordinarily capable, and has a special ability to make a new mother feel that same capability. She always felt like an engaged and caring guide, and never a remote authority. Her understanding of the science, research and philosophies of newborn delivery and care is extensive and current. When helping us navigate choices, she was never evangelical, but clearly laid out the options and evidence for us, making us feel empowered, supported and truly confident in the decisions we did make. She visited with us frequently during those first days in the hospital, and again when we came home for the first time. In hindsight, having Ceridwen was as essential as my medical care, and I credit her with, among other things, the ease and success of my son's breast-feeding (she was there to help him latch on day 1, and made the entire experience feel cozy, happy and natural.) I couldn't recommend Ceridwen more highly. I will never forget her care and kindness. She truly has a heart of gold.- Sammy & Sonny
So great. So engaging. So informative. So attentive. Thoughtful and took her time with questions. Very generous with each couple and their questions. 3 hours flew by. We had a wonderful time and would recommend to everyone we can! Thank you. - Sam, November 2018
Wonderful, kind, knowledgeable instructor. Great information - and a lot of it in a few hours time. - Kristen
Ceridwen is amazing. The way that she describes everything it's easy to understand. - Pauline
Ceridwen is hilarious, wise, warm, smart, and FULL of advice and information I haven't found in any of my dozens of books. I feel 100% more prepared and calm about labor and delivery. - Sabrina
Ceridwen had a great approach. She was very knowledgeable and very balanced in her teaching style and approach. - Jennifer
We took an intensive course with Ceridwen Morris. It was an awesome class, she was incredibly informative, helpful, and fun. She presented all the material without judgment and allowed for natural flow of conversation and questions, rather than have a hard, steadfast agenda that she plowed through. I must admit, my husband and I were dreading the class, and only taking it to check off a box, and we both walked out of the class way more informed and really grateful that we took the class with such an incredible teacher. - Ana
We found Ceridwen's course to be tremendously helpful. She demystified so much of this process for us with clear medical and scientifically grounded explanations about what is happening to the body. I think the best part of her approach though is that she gives plenty of time for people to ask questions - there was no shortage from our group! Anyway, I was sort of dreading doing six hours of non-stop baby stuff on a Sunday but relative to ALL of the time I've spent reading random books and web sites, this course was definitely the best "bang for the buck." Thanks! - Ryan & Carolyn
I did the intensive one day childbirth class with Ceridwen Morris. She was absolutely fantastic and the entire experience was well above and beyond my expectations. Ceridwen is very knowledgeable and she made the class extremely relevant and included real life experience information which were very helpful. We did practical exercises which was also very helpful. She is so positive and energetic that all the fears about the birth experience went away!! It was a real gift to be able to take this class with her! I cannot thank her enough! - Chiara, March 2018
